This position provides medical nutrition therapy and education services to State ofMaineemployees in a variety of settings throughout the state including participants of the ME First program as well as other State ofMaineemployees.Adheres to and promotes MaineGeneral Health (MGH) departmental Values and Standards. Maintain established departmental and ME First polices and procedures. Performs nutritional assessments and provide dietetic instruction to participants of the ME First Program in all established locations. Is responsible for selection, development and presentation of medical nutrition therapy instructional materials and education. Develops and implements nutrition education programs for State ofMaineemployees. Participates in performance improvement activities regarding medical nutrition and diabetes education.
Qualifications/Competencies:

State ofMaine Licenseas a Dietitian (LD) required.

Registered Dietician (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) within 6 months of hire required.

Valid Drivers License is required.

BLS is required within 3 months of hire.

Certified Diabetes Education (CDE) is preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or a Nutrition related field is preferred.

1 year of experience in nutrition counseling, preferably with emphasis on Employee Health Prevention and Wellness nutrition preferred.

Basic computer literacy and ability to work with various computer applications are strongly preferred.

Group instructional skills to provide education to program participantsare strongly preferred.

Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) as well as presentation and counseling skillsare strongly preferred.

The ability to function well in a team/group environmentisstrongly preferred.

The ability to accurately measure height, and body weight and the ability to accurately assess body composition (body mass, body fat, and muscle mass) is strongly preferred.

Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy,including interviewing and adult education techniquesare strongly preferred.

Excellent time management, organizational, and record-keeping skillsare strongly preferred.
