_Job Description Summary_
Pike is looking to hire one college student to work as a Quality Control (QC) Intern at both of the Sidney, and , facilities.
As an intern within our QC group, the selected candidate will learn about the quality control process and the practices Pike follows in order to reach and maintain a high standard of quality with all of our asphalt and aggregate products. Throughout the summer the intern will be exposed to a variety of processes which will include; conducting tests and completing gradations on aggregate material, learning about hot asphalt material, monitoring temperature, thickness, density and overall condition of pavements during installation.
_Essential Duties and Responsibilities_
Work in the quarry to learn about and assist with process control through material sampling and completing gradations while testing materials in a safe, efficient and productive manner.
Identify and become familiar with various specifications requirements.
Work with the asphalt plant to learn about and assist with monitoring the quality of hot asphalt mix in a safe, efficient and productive manner.
Test materials to determine weight, specific gravity and gradation of mix components.
Communicate with current QC technicians regarding mix specifications and test results.
Input test result data into computers in laboratories and remote locations.
_Requirements_
The ideal candidate must be currently enrolled in a college degree program
Ability to work in a fast paced, high stress environment
Ability to work in a team setting
QC work is determined by the operation of the business, may include night work, and usually involves overtime.
The selected candidate must have reliable transportation to commute to and from their work location, as well as between facilities when necessary.
