Provides World Class Member Service by surprising and delighting our members everyday. Supervises fast and efficient cash register and service desk operations. Observes customer traffic and calls for additional service as needed. Trains and coaches all checkout service and service desk associates.
o Ensures customer care and selling are #1 priority
o Promotes the use of our credit card, Smart Plans, and add-on sales
o Possesses knowledge of store, services, and locations of merchandise
o Possesses knowledge of financial goals regarding sales, margin and shrink and takes steps to improve the front end in these areas
o Engages in friendly conversation with customers to build customer relationships, greets all customers, handles customers inquires and concerns, observes traffic to call for back up if needed
o Participates in the interview process for potential Checkout Service Associates and Service Desk Associates
o Trains and supervises Checkout Service and Service Desk Associates and ensures that they are completing all required tasks on a continual basis and communicates register errors to the proper management
o Facilitates dialogue between front-line associates and the store leadership team
o Recognizes coaching opportunities to praise or correct performance of associates and ensures that you and your associate are improving every day
o Works closely with the HR Lead to ensure completion of compliance training of all department associates
o Demonstrates a strong skill set in suggestive selling techniques
o Demonstrates expertise in and performs all service desk and checkout roles and responsibilities
o Familiar with Operations Workbench and utilizes it to help maximize sales and reduce shrink
o Ensures that Money Order, Western Union, and Fishing and Hunting reports are run at the end of the day and turned into the cash office
o Monitors security alarms on front doors and logs all incidents in the Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) logbook
o Trains and runs lottery machines (select stores)
o Follows corporate guidelines relating to Merchandise Claims & Controls (MCC), Known-Loss merchandise, and Open/Empty Packages
o Conducts continuous tours of the checkouts, layaway and the service desk to prepare each register and podium for daily activity, ensuring that all required supplies are always available
o Works closely with the Assistant Store Managers and Service Desk Associates to ensure that the Ad verification form is filled out weekly and rain check and suitable substitutes are noted
o Maintains accurate unit integrity by monitoring merchandise replenishment and ordering
o Calls technical support (ARMS) for register problems
o Performs other duties as assigned
o Strong reading, writing, oral, and arithmetic skills
o Ability to possess a positive, friendly demeanor
o Able to lift and move merchandise, typically a minimum of 20lbs, but could be up to 100lbs
o Repetitive bending, lifting, stretching and reaching skills
o Ability to be cross-trained
o Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
o Must be 18 years of age or older

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
