American Express is looking for energetic, high-performing software engineers to help shape our technology and product roadmap. You will be part of the fast-paced, entrepreneurial team, as a part of Customer R&D capabilities organization that enables Big Data and batch/ real-time analytical solutions leveraging transformational technologies (Hadoop, HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, HBase, Pig etc) to deliver innovative solutions across multiple Business Units (e.g: RIM, GNICS, OPEN, CS, EG, etc). Position requires a Bachelors or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field.
Responsibilities include:
Manages the relationship with the business partners to ensure their technology needs are planned and road-mapped clearly
Deep understanding of technology with hands on experience with coding
Manage the resource allocation across different projects as per business priorities
Ensure that project is planned from all needs and ensure required time-lines are adhered to
Manage the delivery of the project be coordinating with the development and testing team
Identifies opportunities to adopt innovative technologies
Embodies rebel with a cause mentality by looking beyond the obvious for continuous improvement opportunities
This high energy Engineer must have:
A BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience
Hands-on expertise with application design, software development and automated testing
Experience collaborating with the business to drive requirements / agile story analysis
Ability to effectively interpret technical and business objectives and challenges, and articulate solutions
Ability to think abstractly and deal with ambiguous/under-defined problems
Ability to enable business capabilities through innovation
Looks proactively beyond the obvious for continuous improvement opportunities
High energy, demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies, and takes pride in how fast they develop working software
Required Skills:
Experience in leading scrum team members in different projects
Expertise in Managing and delivering large projects on time, within budget and to quality. Including management of risk, schedule, quality and communication
Past experience of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects
Must be hands-on and able to perform E2E (end to end) or UAT (user acceptance testing) as needed
Technology expertise should include Big Data, internet technologies (HTTP, XML, etc),), NoSQL, MongoDB, REST, SOA
Ability to understand architecture at a product/project level
Have done bug tracking, Project Management/Agile/Scrum using a suite of tools
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

Excellent leadership, communication and negotiation skills
Strong knowledge of the web, the software development process and technologies
In depth knowledge of project management tools, best practices and processes
