Machine operators set up and operate various bindery equipment. This position focuses mainly on perfect binding and saddle stitching machines. Machine operators setup the machine to run, following guidelines set in the job ticket, load onto and unload printed material from the machines, perform scheduled maintenance and oversee any helpers assigned during the run.
o Read and understand work order completely.
o Visually inspect all work order materials and specifications and report all problems to supervisor.
o Machine setup and make ready
o Making adjustments to machines during run
o Cleaning machines
o Handling printed material
o Moving skids
o Packing boxes
o Communicate effectively with all appropriate personnel.
o Check floor and equipment continuously for hazards.
o Maintain quantity counts.
o Conduct quality checks during each job. Each job must be double checked, by a supervisor, before the run.
o Once the job is running the operator must work independently and maintain consistent quality through the run.
o Additional responsibilities as required.
Five years of experience operating production machinery is required, and experience on perfect binding and/or saddle stitching is required as part of that experience.
High school diploma.
Must be at least 18 years old. Must be able to read and understand written and verbal instructions.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
