General Electric (NYSE: GE). Granite Services manages qualified field service technicians who perform maintenance, repairs, and modifications to licensed nuclear facilities in the United States and around the globe which are shut down for refueling.
Granite Services is looking for applicants with mechanical aptitude/experience to work as a Vessel Technician and a Control Rod Drive Technician supporting nuclear outages in the US. We are looking for individuals with mechanical experience/abilities, who are
able to meet the physical demands of the job. Skill based training on specialized tooling is provided to those selected prior to the outage assignment. Local to Wilmington, NC candidates are preferred.
Actual assignments run in the fall and spring season, when utilities have maintenance performed. Applicable training will be held in November, December, or January with one or two spring assignments. Spring assignments are at various nuclear plants in the Eastern
US January through May 2017. Assignment duration typically spans from 9 -40 days per outage. Those with exceptional performance will be asked to support future outage assignments.
Principal Responsibilities/Functions:
The duties of a Vessel Technician include the disassembly and reassembly of the Reactor and its major internal components. Ancillary tasks include the staging of tools and equipment; cleaning and inspection of components used for reassembly, and the packaging
and demobilization of tools to the next location. Duties also include supporting the exchange activities on Control Rod Drive units as well as other undervessel work as required.
The work is typically performed in a very congested area that is typically contaminated and considered a high radiation area. The Vessel Technician works closely with other team members and will report to the Lead Vessel Technician or Refuel Floor Technical
Director. When supporting CRD exchange activities, the majority of the work is performed above the shoulders. The CRD Technician reports to the Lead CRD Technician or CRD Engineer.
The individual will be required to wear radiation and environmental protection equipment which could encompass plastics, anti-contamination clothing and supplied air breathing equipment.
Additional Duties/Responsibilities:
+ Rigging of reactor components and tooling
+ Possess sufficient skill and work experience to understand and implement the work in accordance with written procedures and work direction.
+ Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the requirements for the work
+ Perform required training and proficiency demonstrations as required
+ Conducting preparations for reactor vessel disassembly and reassembly including cleaning of components and staging of equipment, materials, and part
+ Perform disassembly/reassembly of BWR
+ Conduct preparations for CRD exchange
+ Conduct support activities for handling of CRDs
+ Perform the following activities:o CRD Equipment handling and preparationso Undervessel area preparations and restorationo Rigging and handling of CRDs (crated and individually)o Exchanging of CRDs including operation of equipment.
+ Provide feedback and recommendations for improvements to the Vessel Technician & CRD Technician tasks.
+ Ensuring Nuclear Safety a priority during all aspects of the job.
+ Perform Safety Observations at each work location.Minimum Experience/Requirements Needed:
+ High School Diploma or equivalent.
+ Nuclear Technology Program students and graduates encouraged to apply.
+ Must have strong mechanical/technical skills.
+ Previous mechanical experience. Carpentry, construction, maintenance, diesel, automotive, etc. is also applicable experience.
+ Previous Nuclear Experience highly desired, specifically BWR but not required.
+ Individual must be proficient with computers for online training, communications, expense and time entry.Other Requirements:
+ Must be able to obtain Unescorted Site Access at a Nuclear Power Plant (includes fingerprint background investigation, drug testing, and psychological exam)
+ Must be able to pass required physical exam & training for use of respirator.
+ The job of Vessel/CRD Technician is physically demanding and being physically fit can sometimes mean the difference in preventing injuring to yourself or your teammate.
+ Must meet physical requirements of the jobo Able to stand, bend & kneel for extended periods of timeo Ability to climb and descend 10 flights of stairs twice per dayo Able to lift 50lbs repeatedly above shoulderso Able to work heights with/without fall protection or railingso Able to work in a confined space/ highly congested work areao Able to wear full body protective clothing, to include Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) while performing physically demanding tasks.o Able to work in radiation control areas
+ Complete Granite's Environmental Health and Safety training modules
+ Successful completion of skill specific training (80% or higher)
+ Position is located on customer sites & requires 100% travel.
+ Assignments are 100% travel to customer plant sites, duration of stay typically 1 ? 2 months per outage.Other Information:Sites: Various Locations, will be assigned to 1-2 nuclear outages in the Spring 2017 seasonOutage/Assignment Dates: February 12, 2017 is the earliest assignment date. Assignment dates span from 9-40 days per assignmentOutage assignments are 8-12 hours a day depending on week of the outage. Nuclear Power Plants operate 24 hours a day, therefore technicians may be required to work nights, holidays, and weekends.Per Diem while on Outage Assignment (not local to job): $130.00/day (Meals, Lodging & Incidentals - hotel booked by employee)Travel: Booked by employee. Flight & Rental Cars are reimbursed on weekly expense reportsTravel In Day: 8 hours of pay + $130.00/d Per DiemTravel Out Day: 8 hours of pay + $40.00 Meal ExpenseTraining Rate: $16/hrField Rate of Pay: $22/hrBenefits: No Benefits upon hire, eligibility reviewed each year based on hours worked (1560/yr to be eligible)Note: Selected employees hourly employees and will be paid for actual hours worked. This is not a full time position where employees are paid 52 weeks a year. The job is outage season based, where the work months are spring and fall. Typical months off are May-August. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
