POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of a pharmacist obtains and verifies current medication lists of admitted patients and enters this and allergy and sensitivity information into appropriate clinical systems. Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, performs various technical duties relative to the unit dose drug distribution system. Serves as a support person to the Pharmacist in processing, preparing, and distributing drugs and intravenous (IV) solutions and chemotherapy doses. Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, trains new Technicians, performs advanced purchasing activities, checks medication processing in selected areas, and supports medication use system technology (e.g., Pyxis Medstations, etc.) as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES
Licenses
+ Currently registered with the State of Maine Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician required
Certifications
+ Pharmacy Technician Board Certification required
Education
+ Technical training beyond high school preferred
Experience
+ 2 years of retail pharmacy experience preferred
+ 2-4 years of hospital/retail pharmacy preferred
Other Special Skills
+ Unit dose distribution
+ Sterile product preparation
+ Chemotherapy preparation
+ Medication ordering functions
+ Pyxis/CIISafe inventory management, system maintenance and troubleshooting
+ Proficiency in a suite of Microsoft Office applications
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
+ Excellent patient interviewing skills
+ Considerable knowledge of medication names (both brand & generic), medication use, doses, and routes of administration
+ Ability to use medication resources to aid in medication reconciliation process
+ Successful completion of pharmacy & senior pharmacy technician training and all prescribed internal competencies for the department of pharmacy.
+ Successful completion of the medication reconciliation technician written test
+ Computer skills and knowledge of different programs such as SCM, Touchworks, Prescription Monitoring Program, etc. caa9ea93a16643368d93a0158d658b92

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
