The pharmacy resident (PGY-1) is a Pharmacist in training who promotes rational drug therapy for MaineGeneral Medical Center patients by coordinating various aspects of pharmaceutical care. Aspects include coordinating drug distribution activities, monitoring patients for potential drug related problems, ensuring appropriate drug therapy and serving as a drug information resource for Practitioners, Nurses, patients and other health professionals. Each resident will fulfill a one year term beginning July 1 through June 30.
+ Pharmacist license by the Maine Board of Pharmacy or eligible for same through reciprocation preferred. If not licensed, the candidate must be licensed within 2
months of beginning the residency.
+ Annual re-licensure with proof of 15 continuing education contact hours as required by law.
+ Professional society activity preferred
+ Evidence of average or above average academic performance required.
+ Must have a PharmD degree from an accredited college of pharmacy or college of pharmacy that is a candidate for accreditation required.
+ Up to 1 year, hospital Pharmacy experience in unit-dose and IV Admixtures and drug Therapy monitoring preferred

+ Position requires use of computerized patient registration/medical information system
+ Must have the ability and aptitude to adapt to using computer keyboards and terminals
+ Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
+ Strong planning, prioritizing, and organizational skills
+ A high level of mental alertness
+ Proficiency in a suite of Microsoft Office applications
+ Must demonstrate professional and technical competence in the selection, evaluation, utilization, and distribution of drugs and drug information and apply these to all patient age groups
+ Should be familiar with basic principles of rational drug therapy
+ Must have basic skills in supervising and training peers, students, and supportive personnel
+ Must be capable of assuming responsibility for coordinating and supervising the activities of a major pharmacy service area

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
