The candidate will be required to be responsive to the needs of our customers and their sales teams, have knowledge of the sales process, be completely self-motivated and provide supervision and guidance to a team. Candidate will often be in the position to drive required next-steps toward technical acceptance of NOKIA solutions with customers directly or via the systems engineering teams. Candidate will need to manage multiple projects with multiple customer teams and help prioritize projects and strategies activities for the group.
The role includes the following responsibilities:
Manage a team of engineers responsible for driving optical network equipment into the North American market.
Work to ensure the team he/she is responsible for is developing technically and in the market they support with formal and informal training opportunities.
Communicate issues that need executive attention in a concise and timely manner from the customer and ION team members.
Responsible for overseeing 2 or more market segments and will need to represent the needs of these markets to engineering and PLM.
o This will include understanding Business and Market trends.
o How to map those into existing or new Nokia product offerings.
o Meeting with customers and prospects to gather information on their networking plans and current optical networks.
Work closely with the sales teams (sales executives, sales managers, sales engineers) to position optical products within the account. Coach the sales team on identifying and driving optical business to closure.
Oversee the development of technical acceptance strategies based on NOKIA best practices and product differentiators with your direct reports and their accounts.
Candidate must be able to meet with influential customer decision makers and communicate verbally or via presentation tools details of NOKIA s optical product capabilities.
Develop and present technical material, such as white papers and PowerPoint presentations to customers that show our product and delivery capabilities are their best option for success.
Document network designs and recommendations using presentation tools such as PowerPoint, and design tools such as Visio.
Will be responsible for helping to develop overall pricing strategy working with pricing teams and sales to ensure customer wins and meet business margin objectives.
Operate with maximum integrity, ensuring that product capabilities are accurately represented to customer and that NOKIA can deliver proposed solutions in the anticipated timeframe.
Work jointly with many other departments and groups within NOKIA to develop interworking end to-end solutions.
Candidate must be extremely flexible, often juggling multiple opportunities and different accounts with conflicting priorities and be able to manage and coach his/her team to provide the best outcome.

The position DOES require business travel, usually regional (Americas) travel to customer locations. However, occasional international travel to customer or company facilities may also be required. It is expected that the position will require about 35% travel. However, during peak times, travel may increase to cover customer requirements. Candidate should expect that travel at any time, including with little advance notice, is a requirement of this position.

Minimum 5-8 years of experience as a customer facing systems engineer (or consulting systems engineer, technical marketing engineer, etc.) in an optical focused role.
Candidate must have advanced optical networking skills including but not limited to DWDM system design and Ethernet service delivery requirements, including MEF and G.709 knowledge.
Must be able to quickly and easily master new technologies and evolving standards in various customer disciplines (Residential, Wireless Carrier, Business Services, Core Transport, etc.) Must have experience working with product development requirements and optical product lifecycle issues.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal communication. Must have excellent customer communication etiquette and presentation skills. Must be comfortable being an optical products "expert" within NOKIA and driving other departments and sales teams toward most effectively realizing optical products revenue.
Required: Four year degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science (or related technical degree and/or equivalent experience)

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
